Waikiki
A local bus ride to Diamond Head, from Waikiki, occupied another day. Diamond Head, an extinct volcano crater, is a well known landmark of Oahu, & is visible from the beach at Waikiki. We left early in the day to avoid the heat as the walk to the top is quite steep. Great scenery was on view as we ascended the crater & we were rewarded with fantastic views of the Waikiki cityscape when we finally reached its highest point. After a picnic lunch in the shade of beautiful frangipani trees, we decided on walking back to our hotel. It was only about 6km, was downhill all the way & was a good opportunity to take in the sights at a more leisurely pace.
We did lots of walking & indulged in our new found interest of kayaking. This time on the gentle ocean waves at Waikiki where we could take in the view from a different perspective as we paddled in the warm waters.
